When I was in college, insomnia was simply killing all my attempts to concentrate and study. Back then my brother was into martial arts and recommended my to start practicing together. This is where I learned for the first time some amazing meditation techniques. After a few months I felt like a different person and the insomnia and sleeping problems basically disappeared.

Meditation has indeed an amazing potential. Everyone can do it in order to gain more confidence, to overcome their mental and physical problems. Never give up, just continue practicing and you are going to have results :)

Sincerely,
Danpa Nyee Ma

Ya i also got many benefits by practicing meditation. I was much stressed due to my contineous work, i read through the article related to meditation and practice it in the initial stage i face some difficulties to bring up my concentration on a particular thing. But on contineous practice my stress becomes reduced, concentration becomes improved and got many other benefits too.

Michael,

If you're talking to me regarding the useful reply - I'd be happy to share an experience now and again. I'm thinking about opening up some forums, that might be a good place to continue discussion about things like this, sharing experiences and offering advice... but I'm unsure whether forums would be useful given my traffic is still relatively low and there's only about half a dozen regular commenters. We'll see.

The above is a very useful reply. Would you be so generous as to maybe share an account of a meditation experience every now and then?

Katrina,

To be fair - "monkey mind" isn't my phrase, it's a common one found in Buddhist literature. I don't want to take credit! :)

Does it get easier? Yes and no. The old challenges are replaced with new ones. As the monkey mind calms down and the zippy thoughts are no longer there, new things crop up. I find that the longer I go, the more meditation starts to be something like therapy without a therapist. I begin to break down my deep-seated issues... like the steady erosion of a creek through the soil.

It's a valuable thing. I'm glad you're taking part. I'll be happy to hear about your progress. Thank you for your kind words about my blog.

Tony,

Thanks for your kind words of praise. I sometimes let my formal practice slip as well, hoping that the other meditative activities I take part in will help out. However, I've found that nothing really substitutes for that time of focused nothingness. Haha!

Please let us know how your practice goes as you get back into it.
