I wanted to inform all of you of a unique and exciting opportunity in the world of Chinese herbal medicine. Dr. Arnaud Versluys, renown scholar of the Shang Han Lun, will be offering his full Canonical Chinese Medicine training in Portland, OR beginning in September 2008! This is an 8-month long course, with one weekend per month of all day lectures that will take you from wherever you are to a deep understanding of Classical formula science and the basic skills to apply that knowledge in practice. As you all know, I have been studying with Dr. Versluys for the last couple of years and find him to be a very entertaining, engaging and powerful lecturer. His way of understanding the texts of Zhang Zhong Jing is unique and his system of clinical practice is unparalleled. This is truly a golden opportunity – one eagerly snapped up by large groups in Europe – now available to us in the States.

For the first time available to the broader public, I will offer a one year postgraduate training in Canonical Chinese Medicine in Portland, OR. I have designed this training during the past few years and have been offering it in workshop format mostly in Europe.

Canonical Chinese Medicine is the style of clinical Chinese medicine practiced along the tenets outlined in the Han dynasty classics or canons. It is the original form of clinical herbal medicine and is also known as the Canonical Formula style or Canonical Method style /jingfang pai/.

This 8-month program will introduce Canonical Chinese Medicine through the lens of the Shanghan Lun and Jingui Yaolue. The program will teach a systematic classical work method and provide both deeper theoretical understanding, enhanced clinical skill, resulting in improved clinical efficacy.
