Evan,

I agree that this is a big problem in most programs - Chinese medicine or not. We have two two credit courses at NCNM, but I know that's not enough. I'm looking forward to seeing what other folks come up with...

Eric,

Great post! Another book on leadership that goes with this idea is "Encouraging the Heart: A Leader's Guide to Rewarding and Recognizing Others" With the phase cycle, to be good at encouraging others and opening/stabilizing the heart, the wood element must be strong, supple and growing.

I think I inadvertently did this last month! I've been feeling a bit stuck in my practice and not going anywhere and I've had an idea which I hope to be implementing about the time my lease is up. I'll be talking about it more on my blog, as it is a marketing idea. I'm just not quite ready yet.

One facet of this may be developing a new line of acupuncture marketing materials. They would be different enough from what's out there that I've had a number of people who are really interested in what I might end up with. Who knows?

Hi Eric,

I'll be fascinated to hear how this month in particular grows.

Whenever I've asked people about what their college training didn't prepare them for it has been the business side of practice.

It is hugely important both for ourselves and our healing modality (and so the health of our society too).
