		<description>Eric
Thank you, you have made me think about how I use my senses and here are a few thoughts you have triggered. My daughter is an elementary special education teacher and I watched her as she learned how to relate to her very special students. She had to spend a day blindfolded to see what her blind students &#039;see&#039;. Even though it didn&#039;t give her a real sense of what they go through, it did make her aware of some of the basic challenges they have and heightened her awareness of how she had to use her other senses to get by.

From what I understand, when we lose any of our senses, we tend to expand the use of the ones we have left. So as I think about smell, I know I often close my eyes when I smell something, or when I taste I sometimes try not to smell it. To some extent it does work. I am a vegan but I do cook foods with meat for others. I never taste it (but do have a memory of it) and everyone is amazed that I can season it perfectly, I do it almost purely by smell. My hope is that I can take this further as I expand my knowledge of herbs. In our program we have very limited use of raw herbs, but now you have made me think more seriously about getting raw herbs (not just the little packets) and preparing them as part of my learning process. I need to know this.

Thanks for making me think and you are right on about the sense of smell and how it makes me remember, from my heart.
