Happy Election day to all of my readers in the United States of America! I’ve cast my vote for Classical Chinese Medicine by publishing the first part of my podcast series with Dr. Arnaud Versluys. :D
This is a pretty brief piece where he answers the question, “What is Classical Chinese Medicine?” I think you’ll find some great information in there about the relationship of the Classical texts to the practice of medicine, the importance of careful study as well as some food for thought regarding the various schools of Chinese medicine. I’ll release the second part of the podcast before the end of the week and release the conclusion, a little vignette about herbal access and herb substitution next week.
Look also for my regular Saturday podcast this week – ok, so it hasn’t been very regular lately, but I hope we can get past that. ;) Enjoy the podcast!

EAGERLY awaiting the next edition!
Your approach to Classical Chinese Medicine with the mindset (albeit open minded) of your Western training allows the American such as myself to follow an easier pathway to forming an opinion.
You yourself bring your implicit knowledge and apply it to your examination of that strictly medical approach referred to. The educated glimpse through your perspective allows one to appreciate the enormity of all we hope to comprehend.
I just listened to the first part, because I like to learn about many things. What I learned from the first part was that I should spend more time focusing than try and know a little about a lot of things. When he mentioned just focusing on three things would keep you busy for 30 or 40 years it made me realize I need to find just a few things and instead of spending a week learning them spend years learning them.
I have long suffered from a connective tissue disorder. None of the modern medicine I tried fully relieved my pain. After trying some acupuncture sessions and completely stopping my previous medications, I find myself feeling stronger and my pains going away. I feel that a large part of all healing is mental, so maybe it was just the hope that this new medicine would help, or maybe it really did. Either way I am satisfied and hope to continue learning about chinese medicines.
