I’m continuing to be neck deep in business planning. Today we finalized a bunch of copy for our website, came closer to opening a business bank account, got a bunch of things finalized with the lawyer, and had our first “official” meeting as a LLC (hilarious – board meeting with two people at the kitchen table). I’m going to start getting all of these steps together and all the tips and tricks I came up with to give as a free PDF to folks on Deepest Health someday soon. That is, when things calm down a bit. Hopefully, soon, I’ll get some time to actually get back into learning the MEDICINE. :)

I’d like to let Portland-area Chinese medicine enthusiasts (and folks with plenty of frequent flier miles) know about some fantastic opportunities coming your way. If you know of anything I’ve missed, please let us all know in the comments!

- Canonical Chinese Medicine Training – Jingui series in Portland
This is the second part of the Canonical Chinese Medicine Training. As you all know, I have studied with Arnaud for some time. The insights I have gained from his teaching are simply invaluable. I believe that in a short time, I was able to go from being completely ignorant about treating patients to being quite competent. I enjoyed great success in the student clinic, constantly maxing out my shifts, and many of my patients have followed me to my new clinic. This is not to crow about me, because all honor is due to my master. I still have so much to learn, which is why I am so thankful to live in Portland – home of the greatest acupuncture and Chinese herbal education in the country. Seriously. If you are serious about learning Chinese herbal medicine – go through this entire training. Do whatever you have to do to make this happen.

“The Neijing Classical Acupuncture seminar was designed to give the practicing acupuncturist a solid introduction into the basic principles and practices of Neijing style Classical Acupuncture. This course is taught entirely through direct translations of classical source material. The curriculum is built around the introduction of classical ’seed’ concepts, upon which a successful practice of Classical acupuncture may be established. A primary goal of the course is to introduce skills that may be applied directly within a clinical practice. The course is appropriate for licensed acupuncturists, physician acupuncturists and senior-level acupuncture students.”
I was fortunate enough to learn from Dr. Neal at NCNM. He taught the earliest diagnosis classes, as well as Clinical Physical Diagnosis. I only had the opportunity to observe him clinically a few times, but those were enough to convince me that he has some of the most advanced and effective acupuncture technique I have ever experienced. He is a first-rate teacher and someone who is deeply entrenched in a constant learning process. You would not be disappointed to learn acupuncture from this man, despite your age, experience level or scholarly orientation. For more information, click on the link above to be taken to the course page – there is a lot more information available there.
Soon to come : Classes and workshops sponsored by Watershed Community Wellness. Including, but not limited to : the incredible pulse mastery of Brandt Stickley, DOM – Yijing, Confucianism, the Tangye Jing and beginning level six conformations courses by my dear friend Michael Givens, Jin Jing Gong practice sessions, tea classes, gatherings for Chinese medicine scholars and enthusiasts and much, much more. The Watershed events will be discussed here periodically, but around early September a robust, informative site will replace the temporary site you can see at the URL above – including a calendar of all the wonderful happenings.
For those of you not in the Portland area – I encourage you to take a trip to our beautiful city. I can guarantee that you would not be disappointed. Here’s a personal promise to each of you – if you come to Portland for one of these courses, we’ll meet up and discuss Chinese medicine, the world and the beauty inherent in both over a steaming cup of Puerh tea. What could be better?
