Who is Eric Grey?

I am a Portland based practitioner of Classical Chinese Medicine (including Chinese herbal medicine and Acupuncture). I was educated in Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture at the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR.  The deepest aspects of my Chinese medicine training come from learning outside school with two giants in the field : Heiner Fruehauf and Arnaud Versluys I am forever indebted to both of them. I am absolutely, passionately, insanely in love with Chinese medicine. This love has kick started my life in ways I didn’t think were possible. I now believe it is my duty on this planet to foster deep health in as many people as I can manage to come into contact with. This blog is one of the tactics I’d like to use to reach that goal.

I’ve recently started a clinic that has its own, rapidly developing, home on the Internet.   Watershed Community Wellness is devoted to the task of helping people to nourish their lives to help come out of a state of stress, stuckness, distance, pain and fear.  We offer Chinese herbs, acupuncture, Shiatsu, Lomi Lomi, Hot stone massage, pregnancy massage, Swedish and Deep Tissue massage, dietary counseling and personal organization assistance.  You can check it out at Watershed Community Wellness.  That site is currently undergoing revision.

I’m always happy to hear your comments and questions. In fact, it keeps me going when the blogging gig gets stale.  :)  If you’d like to comment on a post, please do leave a comment with the post. If you have a suggestion for content, a request for further information or just have some other question – please contact me!

What is Deepest Health all about?

This blog is dedicated to exploring Classical Chinese medicine. Inevitably it will grow and change as my knowledge and experience expands. On the site you will find archives of material on a variety of topics related to Chinese medicine from basic information on acupuncture and herbal medicine to frank discussions about professional ethics and the status of our profession today. The information is intended for a number of different groups of people.

  • For patients and the general public, I provide basic information about Chinese medicine as well as suggestions on how to use the philosophy and methodology of Chinese medicine to live a fuller life.
  • For students, I provide the above, plus book and study material reviews, information about student organizations and early professional development, study tips and resources as well as a platform for passionate discussion about the medicine in which you are investing so much.
  • For current practitioners, I can only respectfully offer the above and hope you will participate in discussion – allowing us all to benefit from the power of your experience. If you are new to Classical Chinese medicine, you may benefit from the discussions on that topic.

The material is updated regularly.  At this point, daily updates are the goal. It is my hope that Deepest Health can grow to be a center for discussion of the theory and practice of Classical Chinese medicine as well as a place for professionals and future professionals of this medicine can interact and learn.
